7 Days Best of Murchison Falls, Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking
On this 7 Days Best of Murchison Falls, Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking you will Travel to the Murchison Falls National Park and expect the roaring rapids of the Murchison Falls, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park teaming with abundance of wildlife. This is the home to the most powerful waterfalls in the world and is also known as the best destination for wildlife viewing in Uganda.
From the Primates capital of the world, trek chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park which is a home to more than 1,500 chimpanzees and other 13 primate species. The highlight of this safari is gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you come face to face with the largest primates in the world in their natural habitats. Finally you will be returned to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight out.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Your assigned guide/driver from Leone tours and travel will pick you up from Entebbe Airport and you will hit the road to Murchison Falls. The highlights of this park include; the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeests, buffalo, and elephants. You will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles here.
En route, make a detour visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You will have at least one hour of rhino tracking while here. Another stop will be in Masindi in order to enjoy your lunch. Continue to the park and check into your accommodation to relax for the evening.
Day 2: Murchison Falls Game Drive and Launch/Boat Trip to the Base of the Falls
Have your breakfast and then depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park. Here you will have the opportunity of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeests, buffalo, and elephants. You will return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will head out for the boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls where you will also be able to catch sight of more animals including hippos, crocodiles and several water birds. Continue with a hike (if you like) to the top of the falls. The hike may be a strenuous one but the thrill of reaching the top is breathtaking. Miss it only if you must. After the hike, you will have an evening game drive on your way to the lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Start the day with a morning game drive to spot any wildlife you might have missed the previous day. Afterward, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, known for its population of chimpanzees.
You will check in freshen up then later you will go for a walk in Bigodi Swamp, it is rich in biodiversity and scenic in beauty. Kibale is the home of 13 species of primates, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, L’hoest Monkey, Vervet Monkey and the Blue Monkey. You will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning, you will go on a chimpanzee tracking adventure in Kibale Forest. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will trek through the forest in search of habituated chimpanzee groups.
Once you find them, you will spend a memorable hour observing and learning about these fascinating primates. In the afternoon to evening, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check in at your lodge.
Day 5: Morning Game and Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start the day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, and a variety of antelope species. Afterward, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this day, you will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience of mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a briefing by the park rangers, you will set off into the forest in small groups to track and observe one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek can vary in duration and difficulty depending on the gorilla group’s location, but once you find them, you will spend an unforgettable hour in their presence, observing their behavior and capturing memories through photographs. This is a truly magical and humbling experience, as you witness these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.
Day 7: Drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Entebbe Airport for Departure
After breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Entebbe Airport for your departure. The drive takes approximately 8-9 hours, with stops for lunch and scenic views along the way. Your guide will ensure that you reach the airport in time for your scheduled departure, marking the end of your 7-day Uganda safari.
