3 Days Uganda Gorillas Trekking Safari

Experience the best of gorilla tracking adventure in Uganda on a 3 Days Uganda Gorillas Trekking Safari. American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study mountain gorillas in the wild, once said: “No one who looks into the eyes of a gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged.” Well, before having a close view of these gentle giants, this safari takes you across the tropical landscape with a lot of green, and a bit of savannah to the highlands of the southwest in an area called the “Switzerland of East Africa”. Here you encounter the mountain gorillas in their natural habitats and and spend one full hour with these amazing primates. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is the home to the largest number of gorillas in the world.

Day 1: Arrival and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala to commence your drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site which is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You can make a stop at the Equator Crossing at Kayabwe for some fun pictures and refreshments, or ignore that for when you return. You will continue your safari with a stop in Mbarara town for a quick lunch at your own cost. After lunch, you will continue onto Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Once in Bwindi, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You get up early in the morning to enjoy your breakfast. After your breakfast, be ready to be driven to the briefing point. With packed lunch in your carry-on, your guide will deliver you to the park’s HQ before 8:00 am for registration and a briefing. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting creepers, to track the gorillas. When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male—the silverback.

It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense forest in the knowledge you are in the presence of the few remaining mountain gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up, you will be led back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting to commence the transfer to the picturesque Lake Bunyonyi. On arrival, check in at your lodge in Bunyonyi for overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Kampala/ Entebbe

You will be up early and enjoy your breakfast. At 8:00 am, check out and commence the 7-hour drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. You will make a lunch stop en route either in Mbarara town or at the Equator crossing. After lunch, you will continue on to Kampala/ Entebbe. Where we drop you off depends on what your plans are! If you enjoyed lunch in Mbarara town, make the stop at the Equator crossing to buy some crafts. From here, your driver/guide will then complete your transfer to Kampala or the airport if you are checking in for your flight back home.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Breakfast for day one will be provided at the hotel or your place of residence, followed by a meet, greet and briefing on the 3 days Queen Elizabeth Tour by our driver. There will be a number of stopovers including at the Uganda Equator along Masaka road. Here you will be able to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres and also experiment how water swirls in different directions when placed in the northern and southern hemispheres. Take photos and even buy some of the beautiful souvenirs. Head straight to lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Kazinga channel

Start the day with early game drives that expose us to diverse animals including the Big Five—elephants, buffaloes, big cats- lions, leopards, and rhinos. More times in the evening, warthogs, hunchback carnivals like hyenas are spotted along the circuits as we drive along, and many more species that are residents to this park. There is a rich birdlife especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the flamingoes in the salt lakes at Kasenyi.

Enjoy a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36km channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you’ll see land and water adapted hippos yawning, the National Geographical society killing machine, the Nile crocodile, gaping along the banks and savannah version of pigs, the warthog-Pumba are a hallmark sign in this animal home. With your binoculars along the peninsula, you’ll have a magnificent view of birds and animals like the ever-playing African elephants in waters.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and transfer to Entebbe International Airport

This morning, you’ll go on chimps trekking in Kalinzu Forest. Enjoy the walk through the forest and the fascinating meeting with the chimpanzees. After the trek, embark on the drive back to Kampala with a stopover at equator and lunch in Masaka. Drive back through to Kampala as we have reached the end of the 3 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park safari tour in Uganda. Arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening and proceed to the airport.
