Gorilla Habituation Experience In Uganda – Spend More Time With The Gorillas.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience has no recognized definition. Nonetheless, it may be referred to as the process of acclimating untamed gorillas to the presence of humans. It takes two to three years for several groups of individuals, including trackers, conservationists, researchers, and rangers, to complete this habituation process.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority offers this educational exercise on a modest basis, and it has only just grown into a reliable activity. Bookings for this kind of activity must be made six months before the actual habituation day, notably between the months of December through March and July through October, since this experience only allows a maximum of four people per day.Habituation of mountain gorillas
Gorilla Habituation gives visitors four hours to spend with the gorillas, while Gorilla Trekking only permits an hour-long encounter. Additionally, each individual must pay US$1500 for the Habituation experience, which is somewhat more expensive than the US$600 paid for gorilla tracking.
This kind of encounter is only found within Uganda’s boundaries at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, while it is scarce in Rwanda and/or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nearly eleven habituated Ugandan gorilla safari groups can be found here, including Habinyanja, Rushegura, and Mubare, which are located at Buhoma, north of the park; Mishaya, Bweza, Nshonji, Kahungye, Busingye, and the Nkuringo gorilla group, located at Rushaga, south.
The Bitukura, Kyaguriro, and Oruzogo gorilla groups are located far out in the east near Ruhija. Only two of these groups—at Nkuringo and Rushaga—were designated as the gorilla families that could be habituated, nevertheless.
People get a greater understanding of each gorilla individually throughout this process, learn about their activities, and even go so far as to name each one. A simulated exercise is conducted as a means of verifying the researchers’ findings if they are certain that the wild gorillas are comfortable with human presence. The gorilla troop becomes eligible for gorilla trekking after the primates pass this kind of test, which now involves scientists and media.
