Full List of National Parks in Uganda
It appears that Uganda has ten national parks spread over its many areas. Depending on the quantity of game and forest reserves the nation has, the number may rise or fall in the near future. Currently, Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest and Murchison Falls National Park is the largest.
Kidepo Valley National Park The most popular of all is Queen Elizabeth National Park, while Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda continues to be one of the most visited. Uganda is the most remote, situated far northeast of the country’s wild frontier region.
Mt. Elgon National Park receives the fewest visitors and may soon lose its status as a national park, according to the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Semuliki Valley National Park, and Rwenzori Mountains National Park are among the other national parks. Please refer to the Ugandan national park map below.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority oversees these national parks, which have long been the country’s tourism hub, drawing thousands of tourists each year. Wildlife viewing, chimpanzee tracking, gorilla and golden monkey trekking, nature and community walks, paddling, and many other tourism activities are available to visitors in each of them. There is no doubt that Bwindi is a paradise for gorilla trekkers! More than half of the world’s remaining endangered mountain gorilla population is found in this national park.
These gorillas are categorized into families and dispersed over their separate habitats based on the Bwindi sectors. When you visit Bwindi, especially during the dry season, you can’t help but observe mountain gorillas in large numbers, even though some are so far away.
While Lake Mburo National Park occasionally provides a beautiful view, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park are the best places to see animals. Chimpanzee tracking is possible in Murchison Falls National Park (a little less popular), Kibale Forest National Park (the best place for chimpanzee trekking), and Kyambura Gorge & Kalinzu forest near Queen Elizabeth National Park.
