Explore Bisanadi National Reserve – Kenya birding and wildlife Safaris.
Discover Bisanadi National Reserve – “Paradise unspoiled”. The Bisanadi National Reserve covers the great dry wilderness north of Meru National Park. Lions, elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, buffalos, and around 400 kinds of birds call this hot and dry bush terrain home.
Along with sleeping under the stars in this hard but beautiful location, visitors may go boating and fishing on the Tana and Rojewero rivers. Eastern province’s Bisanadi National Reserve is situated in Isiolo County.
Originally set aside in 1979 with a 606 km² enlargement, it provides a habitat for animals for the nearby Meru national park, westward upstream Tana River. Since Meru was for many years a territory used by poachers, this land strip was under protection with two purposes: it would enable greater movement for the Meru animals and maintain the park secure from human intrusion.
Meru and Bisanadi’s boundary runs in the manner the Meru and Boran tribes have always followed. From the banks of the river Tana and other small streams, Bisanadi is a stretch of thorn bush and parched Savannah that opens way to marshes and palm tree woods.
How one may reach Bisanadi National Reaserve?
Discover Bisanadi National Reserve; Bisanadi is not connected by roads or pathways, so getting around the reserve is challenging. From the Murera Gate of the nearby Meru national park or the Tana River, at the reserve’s southern boundary, it is only reachable in a 4WD vehicle.
In any event, mostly owing to safety concerns in the region, the reserve is not developed for tourists and access is limited. Ask the Meru rangers to refer you to the senior warden if you want to set up a visit.
Alternatively, you might attempt to schedule a visit via the Main Headquarters of Kenya Wildlife Service in Langata, Nairobi national park in the capital. An airfield near Korbessa allows air access.
Animal Life
Because Bisanadi is a dispersion region for Meru national park species, the same animals—including mongoose—can be seen here. Usually visiting particularly during the wet seasons are elephants and buffalos.
lodging
Although the reserve lacks housing, visitors may stay at the adjacent Meru national park with guesthouses.
Sleeping in a tent
Bisanadi does not have any set campsites. Mwesigwa Adventures or the reserve authorities should be contacted for plans as, sometimes, special camping permissions are provided.
