CTPH Gorilla Conservation Camp
Buhoma’s CTPH Gorilla Conservation Camp
One of the few affordable lodging alternatives in Bwindi is the CTPH Gorilla Conservation Camp, which is located on the outskirts of the stunning Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Tourists, students, and researchers can stay in the basic yet comfortable CTPH Gorilla Conservation Camp, which donates all profits to gorilla conservation, if they don’t want to spend a fortune at one of the upscale lodges and also want to support a local cause.
camp for gorilla conservation
When Gorilla Tourism was introduced in 1993 in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the camp was the first to start in the region. The camp now consists of four single or double tents arranged around a tree-shaded eating area. Situated in Buhoma settlement, the CTPH conservation camp is about 2 km from the national park entrance and adjacent to Batwa settlement.
During your tour, you may also see CTPH’s Gorilla Research Clinic, which is located in the camp. The clinic collaborates with the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to analyze gorilla data in order to help protect the endangered mountain gorilla by halting the transmission of sickness among the local community and the gorillas. Half of the world’s mountain gorillas live in Bwindi, and by visiting the CTPH conservation camp, you can contribute to their continued existence.
