Busingye Gorilla Group
The Rushaga region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to five different gorilla families, including the Busingye Gorilla Group.
You will undoubtedly be treated to breathtaking vistas of the undulating hills and the Virunga volcanoes, among many other attractions, when you drive to Rushaga sector to meet this group. A separate group from the Kahungye family is this one. Due to various misunderstandings, the two parted ways in August of 2012.
Three babies, five black backs, and one silverback make up the family’s current nine members. Due to new gorillas joining the group, gorillas dying off, new births, and other gorillas leaving groups to start their own or join another, the number of mountain gorilla families is always fluctuating.
Upon the establishment of the Busingye Gorilla Group, park rangers anticipated that its members would reconcile and return to their previous group; however, there were no indications of an instant reunion with the Kahungye gorilla family.
In order to trek with this group, each trekker must arrive at the park headquarters by 7 a.m. for a briefing meeting that should last no more than 30 minutes. You will receive a briefing on gorilla trekking and the dos and don’ts of this unique safari activity during this same meeting.
An armed ranger and a guide who knows where the family is will accompany you on your trek through the jungle.
Depending on the gorillas’ movements, the hike could take up to eight hours, which would include an hour-long interaction with these endangered animals. In order to protect these gorillas from harm or disease transmission, you are also required to maintain a minimum distance of 7 meters.
Ask your tour operator to reserve your gorilla permits for Rushaga if you would like to encounter this serene and charming family of gorillas.
