Bweza Gorilla Group.
The Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the Bweza Gorilla Group. There are seven members of this Bweza gorilla group, including two babies and a silverback.
Due to certain miscommunications among its members, the Bweza Gorilla Group eventually broke up into other groups. It began with the Nshongi family, which at the time was the largest mountain gorilla family to become habituated in Uganda.
After a number of arguments in 2013, Bweza, the silverback, decided to finally distance himself from the rest of the family. Since then, there have been no intimate indications of the family getting back together.
Park rangers had hoped that the family would reunite eventually, but they were disappointed when they didn’t, which further led to the group’s opening to tourists in 2012.
Bweza is one of the most fascinating mountain gorilla groups to walk among all the others in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It’s an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience to see this family go about their daily lives, feeding, playing, and grooming one another.
You travel through the picturesque undulating hills of Kigezi town on your way to the Rushaga district of Bwindi. Along with the breathtaking vistas of Lake Bunyonyi, one of the world’s deepest crater lakes, you will also take in the comparatively lovely scenery of the Virunga Volcanoes.
Compared to Nkuringo and Buhoma, gorilla permits for Rushaga are not as difficult to obtain, but you should still make your reservation several months in advance to eliminate any chance of missing them.
Searching for an exciting trekking group? Bweza is undoubtedly one of those entertaining bands. You can Bweza, or the Silverback, by asking your safari operator to reserve your permits for Rushaga.
