Ugenda Gorilla Group
Along with Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda is home to the Ugenda Gorilla Group, one of the endangered species in the world.
One of the largest species in the monkey family, mountain gorillas are endangered apes. which have 98% of the same human DNA.
These endangered species are found in the jungles of Volcanoes National Park, which is situated in the settlement of Musanze, also known as Ruhengeri, in northwest Rwanda.
Public transportation can take you to the park, and it only takes two hours to get there from Gisenyi or Kigali International Airport. Since one must arrive at the park headquarters by 7:00am, a tourist can go gorilla trekking that same day and then return based on their arrival time.
There are ten habituated gorillas in the park, and each family has distinct traits. One such group is known as the “Ugenda Gorilla Group.”
There are two Silverbacks and eleven members of the family. The Karisimbi volcanoes are home to the Ugenda gorilla group.
As implied by its name, Ugenda, a native phrase meaning on the move, the group is challenging to hike since it is always moving.
Because of their habit of relocating and constructing new nests for night shifts, the Ugenda gorilla group family was given its name. This explains why it is necessary to travel the group every day.
To make it easy for the trekkers, rangers and guides always travel quicker than the trekkers to locate the gorilla family.
It takes between thirty minutes to six hours to find the group on the journey, and one is permitted to spend an hour with them while they engage in activities that they do every day, like eating, playing, grooming, and playing. Have a wonderful day with one of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas.
One need not worry because the guide will contain all the facts on the family and where they are.
