Kwita Izina.

A gorilla ceremony called Kwita Izina is used to name newborn gorillas. The custom of naming newborns after birth is the source of the ceremony’s name. The purpose of the ceremony is to keep an eye on each gorilla and its group in their natural habitat.

The purpose of the ritual was to educate locals and visitors alike about the value of saving mountain gorillas. When the Rwanda Development Board made the decision to fund conservation initiatives in 2005, the ceremony was formally formed.

In addition to celebrating babies, this event aims to increase public awareness of the need to protect endangered species on all fronts.Kwita Izina

The ceremony is held in September to honor conservation efforts. Its goal is to highlight ongoing programs that monitor every gorilla member in every group, which has helped to raise awareness of the ecosystem and the need for people to protect mountain gorillas.

The Twin Mountain Gorillas are the reason for the celebration; it’s a cute and exciting time to see twin mountain gorillas. The third time twins were born was in 2005, and the second time was in 2012. The conservation industry was fortunate to have this moment.

Launching community projects that have arisen from the sharing tourism plan is celebrated with this function. In order to help the tourism industry preserve the mountain gorillas, the Rwanda Development Board supports the communities surrounding the Volcanoes National Park. Celebrations are always planned close to every Rwandan national park, which is significant.

Every year on the second of September, the Kwita Izina is named, and local performers do cultural acts. More than 20,000 people attend the event at Kinigi, which is located in the northern region of Rwanda at the summit of the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park.

The naming of a baby mountain gorilla is regarded as a great honor, and both local and internal people are given the opportunity to choose a name. This allows everyone who has made significant contributions to the conservation of mountain gorillas to have a say.

Attending the Gorilla naming ceremony is also a good idea because it will provide a platform for leading African tourism marketers to showcase their goods and provide networking opportunities. This will also educate the locals about tourism-related goods and services, where they may take advantage of various promotions at each show.
