You will get to see mountain gorillas and experience the finest of nature while hiking with them in Africa.
One of the most sobering experiences you may have while visiting endangered animals in Africa is gorilla trekking. Mountain Gorillas are educated primates that are quite shy.
After receiving a brief introduction to the activity, gorilla trekking in Africa begins early in the morning. You’ll visit the park headquarters at Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Virunga National Park, Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
In order to go gorilla trekking in Africa, you must reserve your gorilla permit at least three months before your intended departure date. Hiking through the dense vegetation of the rainforest, which is muddy and slippery, requires physical fitness.
Remember to protect yourself from any challenges by wearing gloves, long sleeves, walking shoes, and thick jeans. Keep in mind that these are rainforests, so keep your cameras and other equipment safe whenever it might rain. To make your hike easier, the lodges supply walking sticks, or you can get one from the park headquarters.
For the incredible gorilla trekking in Africa, pack a meal. You will travel in a group of eight, and a guide and ranger will take you into the jungle as you follow the mountain gorillas.
The mountain gorillas can be found in as little as 30 minutes to 6 hours, depending on where they were last seen and sighted the day before. Many bird species, trees, geckos, chameleons, various plantations, waterfalls, butterflies, breathtaking scenery, and much more may be seen when trekking the mountain gorillas.
You can watch the gorillas feed, groom each other, play, and feed for an hour after you find them. You are permitted to stand seven meters away from the mountain gorillas, and you can spend an hour in the forest eating lunch before returning to the park headquarters to celebrate the gorilla trek.
