Hiking the tororo rock in Uganda – Mount Elgon National Park.
Tororo Rock is a formation of rocks in the Eastern Region of Uganda situated near the town of Tororo. It defines the Tororo town most definitely. Climbing this tourist attraction takes around one hour as well. Four ladders up the remaining parts constitute the ascent; the trek requires minimal expertise.
Tororo town is a neat, peaceful, orderly one. In the midst of the commercial town serving as a business center close to the Ugandan-Kenyan border, it has a stunning monument. Rising majestically in the midst of the town, the massive dormant volcanic Tororo rock calls first-time tourists from all around Tororo town from where it is clearly visible.
Rising to 1,484 meters, the Tororo Rock is a collection of rocks that defines the town. The people call it the “Usuku rock,” as well. The second highest volcanic plug in all of Africa; initially found in Nigeria, then in South Africa; Tororo rock is a historical rock.
Popular tourist destination, the Tororo rock is ascended by both foreigners and Ugandans approximately one hour. With so much greenery, there are many chances for bird viewing while you sweat it out on the hard climb and enjoy a good stroll in nature.
You will get a broad perspective of Mountain Elgon, Tororo town, and Lake Victoria from the summit of Tororo rock. On the mountaintop are many telecommunication towers belonging to Uganda’s voice and data firms, MTN, UTL, Airtel & Warid. Climbing takes one hour, and the Rock Classic Hotel offers guidance.

Via Jinja and Iganga town, Tororo Town connects to the border town of Malaba on Kenya border and lies three hours driving away from Kampala.
