Day 2: Trekking with Gorillas
Following an early breakfast, proceed to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park headquarters for an orientation, meet the guides, and be divided into groups according to the Ugandan gorilla trekking group you will be following.
You will then go for your exhilarating encounter with the Gorillas in the Mist. There is a lot to see when hiking through this amazing and enigmatic forest on your route to view the mountain gorillas. The fauna, which will include more monkeys, butterflies, animals, and birds, will undoubtedly be stunning and further enrich this really unique experience.
The tracking and trekking may involve some strenuous climbing and hiking, but it is extremely overwhelming to see the peaceful yet powerful mountain gorillas up close—just a few meters away—observing the group, the baby with the mothers, and the gorillas going about their daily lives. Except for this little region of Africa, where many of the last mountain gorillas may be spotted, you will never find any mountain gorillas residing in a zoo.
Fortunately, due to a great deal of work, this population is flourishing and living in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and tourists have the chance to see them up close.
Return to the Uganda Safaris Park headquarters after that, and according on your energy level and the time of day, do a village stroll to observe the traditional way of life of the inhabitants, including the production of local beer and medicines from this very forest. The friendly locals will perform traditional dances and provide various forms of entertainment, and it’s all worth seeing.
